See our Library Services Updates page for information about changes to Rasmuson Library Services.

UAF students, staff, and faculty can now enter the library to pick out or to return their own materials, accessing the library by PolarExpress card.

Public library patrons can again place holds on our materials through the public library's catalog. Items can be picked up at the Noel Wien Library or the North Pole Branch.

University patrons who are reluctant to enter the library can still check materials out by appointment. Set an appointment to pick up items.

Reserving Equipment

You may book equipment in any one of the following ways:

  • Call the Media Equipment desk at (907) 474-7072.
  • Send e-mail to (24 hour notice, please; this is not a good option if you need the equipment right away.)
  • Visit the Media Equipment Desk in person. We are located on the 4th floor of the Rasmuson Library.

You must have a Polar Express card to check out equipment or keys and it must be presented at the time of checkout—no exceptions! You may not borrow another person’s card—you must have your own Polar Express card with you when you check out. Late equipment may incur fines at the rate of $1/hour.

We reserve the right to suspend or discontinue equipment checkout privileges to any patron who returns equipment late. All library privileges will be blocked while equipment is long overdue (more than 7 days). Please don’t be late with equipment—other patrons may be waiting!
