See our Library Services Updates page for information about changes to Rasmuson Library Services.

UAF students, staff, and faculty can now enter the library to pick out or to return their own materials, accessing the library by PolarExpress card.

Public library patrons can again place holds on our materials through the public library's catalog. Items can be picked up at the Noel Wien Library or the North Pole Branch.

University patrons who are reluctant to enter the library can still check materials out by appointment. Set an appointment to pick up items.

Renewing Materials

To access your Library Catalog account, you will need to know your UA ID# (the number on your Polar Express card) and your Library Catalog account PIN. If you don't have a PIN, or have forgotten your PIN, call the Rasmuson Library Circulation desk at 907-474-7481.  If you're needing to renew items that you borrowed via Interlibrary Loan (ILL), login to your ILL account.

  • Items may be renewed twice (excluding media equipment & reserves): in person, over the phone (907-474-6762), or online, unless another patron has requested the item. For information on media equipment renewal, refer to the media pages.
  • If the item is needed beyond two renewals, it must be returned to the library and checked back out to begin the process again, provided no other patron has requested the item.
  • To renew your own materials online:
    1. Go to the Library Catalog
    2. Click My Account
    3. Use your UA ID# and Library Catalog account PIN to log in.
Call the Circulation desk if you've forgotten your PIN

    4.  Click Checkouts
    5. Check the box for the items you wish to renew and select  Renew.
    6. Check to see that the item(s) were successfully renewed and make note of the new Due Date.
